The Role
The COMMSO within SASR establishes and manages physical security measures to ensure that the unit is able to maintain certification of classified communications means and be capable of receiving COMINT, which is critical to the conduct of operations within the unit and across the Command.
The COMMSO will be required to conduct training and receive qualifications commensurate with the role. Prior experience as a COMMSO or D/COMMSO would be highly favourable along with a deep understanding of Defence Protective Security Measures and Procedures.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. You will be working within a high performance team in a predominately office based environment. The team are mainly highly experienced uniformed members with a mix of APS staff to support their operations.
The work of the COMMSO will require the successful candidate to communicate, engage with stakeholders and lead the management of security measures to enable continued operations within the work environment.
